Under the baton of Philippe Bach, the HEMU Orchestra and the Fribourg Chamber Orchestra (OCF) join forces for a musical journey that will take listeners from the intimate emotions of Alban Berg to the luminous vision of Gustav Mahler.
The HEMU Orchestra joins forces with the OCF once again for a programme conducted by Philippe Bach, bringing together two major works from the symphonic repertoire of the 20th century and the turn of the century.
Alban Berg's Violin Concerto, dedicated to the ‘memory of an angel’, combines extreme refinement of writing with rare emotional intensity, blending tenderness, tragic outbursts and glimmers of hope.
Given the profound resonance of this programme with the recent tragedy in Crans-Montana, the OCF and the HEMU – Haute École de Musique have decided to dedicate the January concert to the victims of this tragedy. In a gesture of solidarity, all proceeds from ticket sales for the concert at the Rosey Concert Hall will be donated to the Association Flavie, which helps people with severe burns in French-speaking Switzerland.
From Berg's expressive intimacy to Mahler's luminous vision, this concert is intended to be a moment of reflection, hope and sharing, demonstrating music's capacity to convey memory, compassion and consolation.
