An intimate and authentic comedy with a Middle Eastern flavour.
On stage, two actors play the same character 20 years apart. In a dialogue between past and present, they recount the story of a lifetime, the intimate and authentic tale of a man once seduced by jihad who ultimately chose love.
Shahada means 1. testimony /2. Muslim profession of faith,
the first pillar of Islam /3. martyr.
The author and actor Fida Mohissen tells his story today, as a mature man living in France, married and father of two children. Mirroring him, actor Rami Rkab plays the other Fida, the young Syrian man, well-versed in Arabic language and religious education, ‘imbued with God’, discovering theatre with passion, leaving Syria for the West, a land demonised in his country of origin.
‘I've come to talk to you. It's not going to be easy.’
