The Vaud route
This stage of the Via Valdensis links Nyon to Rolle through the peaceful and varied landscapes of the La Côte region. Easy to access and pleasant to walk, the route winds between the shores of Lake Geneva, vineyard terraces, open fields, and typical Vaudois villages such as Prangins, Gland, Dully, and Bursins.
The walk begins along part of the Toblerone Trail, a historical path marked by anti-tank defenses built during the Second World War. These concrete blocks, shaped like the famous chocolate, offer a unique insight into Swiss military history.
Throughout the journey, walkers enjoy panoramic views of the lake, the Alps, and the surrounding vineyards. Spiritual waypoints appear discreetly along the route, echoing the story of the Waldensians, who travelled these lands in search of religious freedom.
This stage is as much about peaceful reflection as it is about discovering local heritage: rural churches, wine cellars, regional products and the gentle rhythm of life. The arrival in Rolle, with its lakeside château and view of Île de la Harpe, offers a graceful and serene end to the day’s walk.
