Standing proud in the centre of the town, Nyon Castle offers stunning views over Lake Geneva. Its authentic vaulted cellar houses the Nyon Caveau des vignerons, where tasting professionals introduce the wines of the appellation Nyon, of the La Côte AOC vineyard, to their guests.
The 270-hectare appellation Nyon area is the second largest in terms of surface area in the Lake Geneva Region. Some fifteen winemakers produce a wide variety of white and red wines. However, as in the rest of the region, it is the chasselas white grape that dominates production, along with the red grapes, gamay and pinot noir.
To sample these wines, wine enthusiasts meet at the Nyon Caveau des vignerons, open from Friday to Sunday at certain times. In this exceptional setting in the castle’s cellar, the vaulted stone walls create an authentic atmosphere for sampling the various wines and culinary specialities of the area.
From Monday to Thursday, the wine cellar can be booked for groups of 50 people maximum for private events, from drinks to catered dinners.
