Dancehall Rave: when dancehall meets techno
After twenty years of blending rave, bass music, reggae and dancehall, Schnautzi is opening a new chapter: Dancehall Rave. Not just a DJ set, but a manifesto. The result of all those nights spent exploring where reggae-dancehall bass and techno trance converge, until bodies become one on the dancefloor.
Dancehall Rave is a conversation between two worlds that were never meant to miss each other: Lee Scratch Perry’s dub sirens pitted against Kevin Saunderson’s reese basslines, dancehall riddims set against techno rhythms. It stems from the squats of the 1990s, from the 7-inch and 12-inch vinyl records that were passed around under the counter, from the Jamaican heritage that eventually gave rise to jungle, hardcore, UK garage and hip-hop.
Here, the sound alone isn’t enough: music, dance, VJing and graphic design collide to create a total experience. Kevin Table, a leading figure in electro dance, takes the reins and catapults the dancers through a space-time portal where past and present collide.
