The Bongo Joe label is celebrating its 10th anniversary!
The Bongo Joe label, associated with Usine à Gaz, is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Ten years of listening, searching, digging, sharing. Ten years of championing records deemed essential because they told a story – of a place, a moment, a movement. Ten years of believing that music, especially music that doesn't fit into any category, deserves more than just attention: it deserves care, listening and time. Over the past ten years, they have built up a unique catalogue, a mosaic made up of re-evaluated archives, contemporary projects and unlikely encounters. Since then, Geneva has forged links with local artists, of course, but also with artists from all over the world. Bands from Istanbul, Buenos Aires, London, Baku, Brussels, Casablanca, Bogotá, Lilongwe, Gonaïves and Amsterdam.
On this anniversary evening, Bongo Joe celebrates a collective adventure, a team that has grown year after year. Together, they have kept this artisanal machine running, stamped sleeves by hand, pressed bad masters onto CDs, taken tonnes of records to the post office (by bicycle!), messed up digital releases, successfully organised launch parties, and thrilled to see “their” bands tour the world... In short, they have experienced hardships and joys.
