Painting with earth and spirit — a journey through texture, color, and global reflection
Bernard Boujol is a Swiss painter whose work draws both from the precision of his architectural background and a deep sensitivity to the world around him. Born in Geneva into a family from the Tarn region of France, he worked as an architect for nearly 30 years before dedicating himself fully to painting in 1995.
He developed a unique technique using lime and natural pigments—often brought back from travels in India or Africa—to create textured, almost mineral canvases that bridge the tactile and the visual. This living material becomes the foundation for an artistic exploration of color, form, and meaning.
His series address themes as varied as memory, space, human traces, social masks, and ecological urgency. His work balances abstraction and figuration, architectural construction and intuitive freedom. Bold colors and simple geometric forms often structure the compositions, inviting a slow, introspective, almost meditative viewing.
Engaged and curious about the world, Bernard Boujol feeds his art through walking, reading, music, and cinema. He sees art as a space for questioning and resonance, able to make visible our emotions, tensions, and connection to life.
