The Musée du Léman welcomes you to explore the scientific laboratory with Stéphane Fischer
How did we first measure the temperature at the bottom of the lake? When were we able to determine its various depths? Who unravelled the mystery of its curious ‘tides’? What did the first scientific tools look like? Lake Geneva has been a laboratory for scientists since the 18th century. Some of the objects and documents in the collections of the Museum of the History of Science bear witness to this. The lake has been the scene of major scientific advances such as the measurement of the speed of sound in water and the colours of lakes and seas.
