The Vaud route
The longest daily stage of the Via Valdensis surprises with impressive changes in landscape: from cool Jura forests to picturesque villages and down to the lakeside town of Nyon on Lake Geneva. The starting point is the idyllic St-George with its fascinating glacière - a natural ice cave that was once used for brewing beer. Those who are not afraid of the length and the moderate ascent and descent will be rewarded with impressive panoramic and cultural moments. The hike is well signposted, with GPS data, leaflets and places to stop for refreshments and overnight accommodation readily available along the route. Ideal for experienced pleasure hikers.
