Historic kitchen garden - Château de Prangins

Swiss National Museum - Château de Prangins
A replica of a typical 18th century garden, the castle's kitchen garden presents old species and varieties of flowers, fruits and vegetables that were grown and eaten in the region three centuries ago.

Some of the plants in the garden, which have been forgotten today, bear witness to the way they were eaten and used at the time. Thus, this living conservatory, guardian of a fragile and threatened heritage, presents the historical, botanical, ethnological and ecological facets of a varied range of market garden and horticultural plants from Switzerland.

In order to discover the plants cultivated at the Château de Prangins, an audioguide in several languages is available at the museum reception desk, and in the outbuilding, an interactive exhibition for young and old alike offers four themes, each one devoted to a season and an emblematic plant of the garden. Several times a month, guided tours of the Potager are organised in French and English, included in the price of admission to the museum. The Potager can also be visited freely all year round
