A Photographic Memory – Exhibitions at Nyon Castle
Four artists – Andrea Knechtle, Jonathan Della Giacoma, Nicolas Lieber and Steve K9urbex – present their photographic works: once-magnificent castles, but also more modest interiors, all of which are – for the most part – in a state of neglect.
Monuments in ruins, yet capable of evoking the past they once represented. The last traces of buildings that are bound, eventually, to disappear; beams collapsing, walls crumbling, and vegetation taking over.
The photographers offer their personal vision of these abandoned places. Even if we do not know why they have been abandoned, these images will linger in our imagination and in our memory, despite their inevitable collapse.
At the same time, on the second floor of the château, the exhibition ‘Lea Lund & Erik K: Portraits in Abandonment’ is on display.
In each photograph, the two artists create imaginary worlds through scenes featuring a model – Erik K – set against unexpected, even improbable backdrops, most often abandoned places.
Further photographs by Lea Lund & Erik K are on display at the L’atelierphoto gallery, 13 Grand-Rue, Nyon, under the title: ‘Lea Lund & Erik K by Catherine Edelman’, from 25 June to 5 September 2026.
