Rolle - Theatre and show
The great return of theatre to the Rosey Concert Hall stage with Molière's timeless play. Michel Boujenah as Harpagon in a quasi-cinematographic staging by Daniel Benoin will delight audiences of all ages.
Marilu production presents a co-production between DBP and Théâtre des Variétés.
An astonishingly modern and psychologically fascinating play. The story of The Miser, like all of Molière's other great works, is the story of an unbridled, if not mad, passion that ends up disturbing the social order. Unlike Dom Juan, who exists in spending, this is a passion of restriction, of turning inward, of restraint, of income. Harpagon, for whom all means of fighting death are good, greedily seeks what seems eternal to him - money - and what can breathe new life into him, Marianne's youth... Gold, obviously, could not satisfy his hunger; outside of himself, it could only doom Harpagon to failure and anguish. And this failure really began when Harpagon, fascinated by Marianne, like Arnolphe by Agnes or Alceste by Célimène, began to passionately desire the one who could be his granddaughter... Then everything will go wrong, the roles will reverse, the sons will take power, the valets will find the hidden gold and Harpagon's greed will become avarice.
