A poignant film adapted from the true story of Philomena Lee and her son Michael A. Hess, reported by British journalist Martin Sixsmith in his book The Lost Child of Philomena Lee.
Ireland, 1952. Philomena Lee, still a teenager, becomes pregnant and is sent to a convent. Her child is quickly snatched from her and adopted by Americans. When, fifty years later, she meets a journalist, she tells him her story and he persuades her to go in search of Anthony.
