In Mont-sur-Rolle above Lake Geneva, the estate Les Dames de Hautecour has been in the hands of women for more than three centuries. Coraline de Wurstemberger looks after its 3-ha vineyard. This dynamic lady welcomes groups, offers tables d’hôte and organises events.
Wine cellars with a history of women are extremely rare in this predominantly male environment. The estate Les Dames de Hautecour is one of these nuggets, having been managed by women of character for more than three centuries. The current owner, Coraline de Wurstemberger, is aided in her task by a winegrower and an oenologist. They give preference to tradition by working manually, according to integrated production methods that are respectful of the environment. The grape varieties thrive on dedicated plots: “Cocogne” for Chasselas; “Le Clos” exclusively for Pinot Noir, and “La Favaz” for Pinot Noir and specialty wines: Pinot Gris, Violet Chasselas and Gamaret.
