This conference by Professor Emeritus Hans-Rudolf Pfeifer (University of Lausanne) will provide an overview of the various uses of soapstone in Valais from the Neolithic period through the Roman and modern eras to the present day. Topics will include everyday objects, heating, lighting, sculptures, adornments, and architecture, featuring examples from the Val d'Anniviers.
